Metropolitan Community Churches
Founded in 1968, our denomination, Metropolitan Community Churches, has believed and preached the all-inclusive love of Jesus Christ for every man, woman, and child, regardless of age, race, marital status, religion, or sexual orientation.
The MCC Founder, Rev. Troy Perry, started this denomination with 12 people in a small upper apartment, and it has grown to a denomination that has over 40,000 members in over 300 churches on five continents.  That all-inclusive love of Christ calls to each and every one of us today, to be bold in our faith in Christ, and not to hesitate to preach a doctrine of inclusivity, holding true to our belief that all are created equal in the eyes of God.

The Statement of Faith for our denomination includes the following statements, with which all members of MCC must agree:

We Believe....in one triune God, being of one substance and of three persons: God our Parent, Creator; Jesus Christ, the only begotten Child of God, fully God and fully human; and in the Holy Spirit, God as our Comforter, Guide, and Sustainer.

We Believe....that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, showing forth God to every person through the law and the prophets, and through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We Believe....that Jesus, the Christ, historically recorded as living some 2,000 years before this writing, is God incarnate, of human birth, fully God and fully human, and that by being one with God.  Jesus demonstrated once and forever that all people are likewise children of God, being spiritually made in God's image.

We Believe....that the Holy Spirit is God making known God's love and interest to all people.  The Holy Spirit is God, available to and working through all who are willing to place their welfare in God's keeping.

We Believe....that every person is justified to God through faith in Jesus Christ.

We Believe....that we are saved from loneliness, despair and degradation through God's gift of grace, as was declared by our Savior, Christ Jesus.  Such grace is not earned but is a pure gift from a God of pure love.  We further commend the community of the faithful to a life of prayer and to a committed life of Christian service.

Communion at Metropolitan Community Church
We offer an open Communion at this church. That means that you do not have to belong to this church or to any church. The M.C.C. bylaws state that "all who believe, confess and repent and seek God's love through Christ, after examining their consciences, may freely participate in the communal meal to signify their desire to be received into community with Jesus Christ's resurrection and to commit their lives anew to the service of Jesus Christ." We believe that Communion is a gift to us, a table set by God to which all God's people are invited.
We do not tell people what receiving Communion has to mean, because that is something different for each one. The meaning is between the receiver and Christ. We believe that openness and diversity is a fitting way to enact the sacrament of Holy Communion. It not only provides the opportunity for personal intimacy with Christ, but also powerfully brings to mind the diversity out of which we are universally called into One Body of Christ in the world.
Everyone who wishes to receive Communion is invited forward to
receive a personal blessing, much like an "altar call" in some churches.

Grape juice is used exclusively at M.C.C. of Santa Rosa. A Communion host is dipped into grape juice and offered to the person(s) along with a prayer and/or blessing from the server. If you have a special prayer request, simply inform your server.
