Ashley, Thank you for your comments. I appreciate you willingness to share with us here at MCC Santa Rosa your concerns about our flier. I would like to share with you that a lot of thought went into the wording on the flier before it ever went out. We wanted as many people as possible have an opportunity to share in our Community Thanksgiving Dinner. I will double check the wording on the next flier making sure that we are not making anyone feel not included in our event. I would like to share with you that we had a wonderful turn out. We were able to serve 89 people a hot Thanksgiving meal. We were even able to give as many as wanted a second serving and if they wanted it to go we had to go containers available for them. This was such a wonderful opportunity for us at MCCSR; we are a small church and only wanted to be open to our community and to serve. Again, thank you for your comments, I do appreciate them. Rev. Hi, I just wanted to leave a message re: your Community Thanksgiving Dinner. I want to thank you for providing this service in our community. But as a service provider, I felt uncomfortable giving the flyer to my clients. The wording on your flyer “our special guests will be those who have nowhere or no one with whom to spend this holiday” feels condescending. As a fellow Christian, I believe I understand your good intention, but would ask you to consider more inclusive and positive wording such as “join us for a Thanksgiving meal celebration. All are welcome.” Instead, the current wording makes one feel that s/he is not valued. I’m not intending for this message to be critical, just want to draw the matter to your attention. Thank you again for providing this service.
